Carolyn’s adventurous spirit and innate desire to make a difference were evident from a young age. At just 12 years old, she was involved in the Peace Child musical play, advocating for disarmament and global understanding during the tensions between the US and the Soviet Union. This set the stage for a lifetime commitment to promoting unity.

Through her academic pursuits in Russian Studies and Political Science at Indiana University, Carolyn continued to champion compassion and understanding. Her work at the National Democratic Institute in fostering democratic values in the former Soviet Union showcased her relentless pursuit of excellence and dedication to improving the world around her.

Despite a successful career in various prestigious roles, Carolyn deeply yearned to serve others more directly. This desire intensified when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, a battle she faced with unwavering strength and resilience. Enrolling in a master’s program in social work at the University of Texas at Austin, Carolyn juggled her studies and treatment, driven by her mission to use her experiences to help others.

Carolyn’s legacy is a testament to the transformative power of love, acceptance, and compassion. Her daily acts of kindness, unwavering support, and infectious enthusiasm for life touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her acceptance of life’s flaws and deep appreciation for beauty made her a remarkable individual, inspiring others to embrace these values and work towards a more unified and compassionate world.

As we reflect on Carolyn’s story and the wisdom shared on the Passion Struck Podcast, we are reminded of the importance of small acts of kindness, understanding, and unity in bridging divides and fostering a more harmonious global community.
